Welcome to my blog.  It’s a collection of travel journals, travel issues, ideas, and random thoughts.  I’ve worked in TV news for more than 13 years, so you’ll find my writing style to be conversational and you might notice a lot of ellipses.... I hope you’ll enjoy reading my blog.  I welcome any feedback.

The Technology Trap

Isn't it weird that the same things that are supposed to make your life easier can actually complicate matters?  I'm talking about technology and traveling.  My husband and I are going on a Western Mediterranean cruise in a few weeks and were discussing all the gadgets we want to take with us.  We have an insane amount of gadgets - we're nerdy that way.

So the issue is: what to bring, how to make them all work in another country and how to make some of them compatible with each other without

Picture This!

My husband is a really good photographer, so he usually takes our vacation photos.  But when it comes to vacation photos, I don't think the pictures have to be perfect. Food, Wine and Friends

I always feel more at ease at an intimate, sit-down dinner compared to the hustle and bustle of cocktail hour.  Both has its virtues, but there’s something special about sharing food and wine at a dinner table.

First and foremost, I think food and wine have the ability to bring people closer together.  Perhaps it’s because you’re sharing a similar experience - enjoying the tenderness of the braised meat or the sweetness of that custard or the subtle fruit flavors of that 2006 Pinot Noir.
